Feasting on the Word

General Conference Brunch

Hello everyone!!! Welcome to October!!! Time flies when you're having fun! It was another awesome week here in Kirkland and I really felt the joy of being a missionary, especially after hearing the counsel of church leaders in General Conference! As requested by the Macfarlane family, I will keep this letter short and sweet!!! I hope you can get through it all during one breakfast ;)

We stayed really busy this week and enjoyed the fall weather and food!! This transfer is sadly flying by too fast. We did lots of teaching, even more contacting and quite a bit of English classes! My companionship worked hard with all of our friends and prepped for Conference weekend. Life as a trainer can be exhausting but it is so worth it and so fun!! We really are enjoying ourselves and enjoying being apart of "the greatest work on the Earth" as President Nelson says!

This week we saw a lot of online and facebook missionary work become really successful. This isn't my favorite thing to do but we've gained nearly a dozen new potential investigators this week all by offering service, english classes or spiritual messages. We've had a ton of people reach out asking for English classes, help in their yard and quite a few wanting an uplifting message. People really are coming to us! I'm excited to see how all of it plays out this week and to see some hard work pay off. It's amazing to be apart of!

A quick update on our investigator Johnny for any of you that are curious! He is continuing to progress so well and his testimony really is growing. About an hour before his scheduled baptism interview this past week, we received a call that Johnny was getting lots of negative pushback from his family about his decision to be baptized. We decided to postpone the interview and instead go teach a lesson addressed to his needs. Sitting on his back deck enjoying the perfect weather, we had such an amazing and spiritual lesson with him. The Spirit was so strong and Johnny shed quite a few tears throughout the lesson. It was really an uplifting afternoon for all of us. Although his path of conversion continues to be long and uncertain, I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has changed his life and will continue to do so. I may or may not be the missionary to baptize Johnny but I genuinely am so grateful to be an instrument of the Lord to give him the new life he so desperately has wanted. He is so awesome. The adversary really is working hard on him but good thing that we are working harder!!

I hope all of you had the chance to watch General Conference this past weekend! It really was such an amazing weekend and I loved being a missionary while listening to the prophet!!! There is no way I could pick a favorite or sum up one common theme from all of the talks, they were all too good! But I do have a strong testimony that our Heavenly Father has given us opportunities like these to become better and learn how we can become more converted in this gospel. Don't let Conference weekend slip by without making your own individual changes! I hope all of you can continue to "prepare and press forward" throughout your week and constantly decide to "let God prevail" in your life.

I love you all so much! You are all in my prayers and every day I feel the love, encouragement and support that you all send me. Have an amazing week!!

Sending love from sunny Seattle!!
