Hello Federal Way!
New Area, New Baby |
Happy p-day everyone!! I can't believe it's already February. Time flies when you're having fun!! It was a super fun week here in Federal Way exploring my new area, meeting my new little spanish branch and attending lots of meetings for my new callings. I loveeeee Federal Way!!!!
My new companions are awesome! Hermana Johnson is from Vegas and she only has 2 transfers left in her mission. She's training me with all the STL stuff and we are having a blast. She is also a fellow “greek” member like me so we are enjoying being known as the “sorority hermanas” haha which definitely doesn’t fit me but we roll with it. We've been looking forward to being companions for a few months now and it's definitely lived up to the hype :) Our baby, Hermana Wies, has killed her first week in the field! She's a loud sassy Texan and keeps us on our toes for sure haha! She's a total Bible nerd and comes in clutch during lessons with stubborn Catholics….now we're just working on doing that in spanish ;) We're a pretty energetic trio to say in the least and are never not laughing!
Federal Way is really pretty!! Tons of tall trees and views of the ferry boats crossing the Puget Sound!! It's been a pretty rainy week but still really busy and successful. The only downside to this new area is living in an apartment meant for one person that constantly smells like weed due to our neighbor’s extracurricular activities...super fun ;)
We had MLC this past Friday and it was awesome! It was really cool being there actually with a calling instead of being a small little greenie that was tagging along with her companions like I did all summer. Oh how the turned tables have turned... (for all my fellow Office nerds)! We focused a lot of our training on becoming Christlike leaders and I learned a ton. I got lots of answers to my prayers during the trainings and feel a lot more confident about facing the rest of the transfer!
The work is popping here too!! The Dumas Bay Spanish Branch is pretty small but has some really solid families. It has been a blast meeting so many new members. We’ve already worked with a lot of inactive families and a few even came to church yesterday! We also had a lesson with one of our recent converts and investigators in a member home this past week teaching the plan of salvation. It went so well!!! There really is nothing better than a lesson within a member home. After a super strong spirit-led lesson, our friend Alejandro accepted an invitation to be baptized later this month. What an awesome way to start off my time here in Federal Way!!! Pray for Alejandro and his continued progress.
To end, I would love to share a quote that I heard a few weeks ago in the YSA Devotional with Elder and Sister Gong. It is simple but strong! I have it hanging on my wall and have shared it with several investigators lately. Elder Gong states,
"Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal."
What a special promise!! No matter the situation or the challenge, the powers of heaven are standing ready to heal and help us. I'm grateful for the knowledge that all my worries and problems can be resolved with divine help from above! I promise the same reassurance and help for all of you as well.
I hope everyone has an amazing week! I love you all and pray for you daily. I really appreciate all the support I receive so often!! I would love to hear from any of you.
Sending love from chilly Seattle!!!
DifĂcil es bueno.
