Your Gift

Alejandro and his heart-breaker car

Hola hola! I hope everyone had a great week and are staying warm! It was another solid week here in Federal Way and we saw a lot of good things happen working with our investigators and helping our members!

We’ve been teaching some really cool people lately!! One of them in specific is named Vivi. She is from Peru and is the sweetest woman. Due to her Covid fears, we have our lessons outside on her porch with folding chairs and a table. She even provides us with some cookies and Peruvian "mate" to keep us warm while we read from the Book of Mormon and try to convince her that it is as important as her Bible ;) Another cool friend we made this week is Tania. She responded to an ad on Facebook for the elders to help her move and she ended up being a sweet Latina trying to grow closer to God… that’s where the Hermanas come in :) We are really excited for the many investigators we have found due to a mix of door knocking, Facebook referrals and our group English class we hold at the church. We stay busy here!!

We started holding exchanges this week with our hermanas! I got to spend the day out in Enumclaw with two other hermanas, one of them being my “daughter” Hermana Bringhurst. It is always so fun working with other missionaries in another area for the day and seeing what you can learn from each other. Helping some hermanas with their struggles and worries has definitely pulled me right outside of my comfort zone but I am constantly praying to be guided by the Spirit and to do everything with lots of charity! Good thing being a disciple of Christ is meant to be uncomfortable!!! Sending some prayers my way would be greatly appreciated :)))

Our friend Alejandro is still on date for baptism in a few weeks! He is doing super well and lessons with him have been awesome. Our recent convert, Andrés, has been helping us fellowship him a lot too and he actually received the Aaronic priesthood this past Sunday!! He wants to baptize Alejandro and we are so excited for the both of them. Teaching them both has been a testimony builder to me that we never should judge who is prepared to receive the gospel without getting to know them first. I would never have guessed that guys like Andrés and Alejandro would be rockstar members of the Church just based on appearance. But Heavenly Father obviously placed them in our path for a reason and knows the eternal potential they have as disciples of Christ! Enjoy the picture of Alejandro and me in front of his "heart break" car haha!

For a spiritual thought I would love to share a verse that I read this week in the Doctrine and Covenants. This particular section was a revelation directed towards Oliver Cowdery and his gift of revelation and interpretation he was given to help Joseph Smith. D&C 8:8 says this about his gift:

"Therefore, doubt not, for it is the gift of God; and you shall hold it in your hands, and do marvelous works; and no power shall be able to take it away out of your hands, for it is the work of God."

This was a reminder to me that Heavenly Father has given each of specific and special spiritual gifts to use while in our mortal lives. They may not be as instrumental in the Restoration as Oliver Cowdery's gift was, but nevertheless we can do "marvelous works" with His gifts in our hands. I have a testimony that everyone's unique spiritual gifts and personalities have been divinely given and should be divinely used as we have faith in our Father in Heaven and do our best to show our light and gifts to others! Show off those spiritual gifts this week and use them for some good :)

You guys are amazing!! Thanks for reading along and not forgetting about me quite yet. Have a happy valentine's day this weekend….I'll be sending you all tons of love and hugs from a distance!!

Quick shoutout to my cute best friend Caroline for heading to her original assignment a few days ago!!! Leeds doesn't know what just hit them with Sister Boyden. And another shoutout to the cute Sister Bowler who is starting off her mission this week!! England is so dang lucky to get some amazing people like these two :)
