Speaking of Miracles

Nery's Baptism

Hey hey hey!! I hope this email finds everyone doing well!! Spring has sprung in Seattle and it was a lot sunnier this week!! Still cold but I’ll take all the sunshine I can get. It was a really busy and great week here in Federal Way to finish off the transfer!

I’ll start off with transfer news!! I’ll be staying in Federal Way this coming transfer and getting two new companions. One of them is coming from Kirkland to join me as a STL and the other...get this… is a baby!! Yes I am training AGAIN. I definitely had mixed emotions getting that call but it’s alright!! I’ve come to the realization that I just need to continue to trust in my Heavenly Father and look at every challenge as something that He wants to teach me. This past transfer has flown by and I’ll miss my companions a ton but am excited to see what unfolds in the next 6 weeks. Time is flying!!

A huge highlight of this week was Nery being baptized! Nery was a friend that I taught back in Kirkland and he chose to be baptized this past Saturday. He invited me to come and give a talk at his baptismal service and it was so awesome!! It was so much fun to be back in the Lake Washington ward for a night and witness the faith of such a sweet man make a covenant with our Heavenly Father!! I’m so grateful that my companions and I had the courage to street contact Nery months ago to offer english classes and then see him follow the example of Jesus Christ a short time later. The miracles of missionary work!

Speaking of miracles, we had some awesome things happen in the Dumas Bay area this week. A woman we had been teaching english twice a week has recently been devouring the Book of Mormon and invited her family to learn about it! We were able to teach the entire Garcia family the message of the Restoration and it was really strong with the Spirit. They have awesome potential! Another tender mercy this week came through a media referral we received! In the past media referrals have led us to people that claim to have never responded to a “mormon ad” on Facebook or Catholics that are just looking for a mass service to crash…. So obviously we were skeptical at first when we knocked on Carlos Ortega’s door on Tuesday. But to our surprise and happiness, he let us right in, introduced us to his kids and starting asking us so many questions! Turns out that he has family in Mexico that are all members and that he’s been looking for some guidance in his life lately. A few days later we came back and taught him the Restoration and it was great!! We’re so excited to work with him and know that he is an example that Heavenly Father is always in the details of the little things.

I’ve recently been studying Tad Callister’s book, The Infinite Atonement and read a really powerful quote the other day that I would like to share with you all!

“Every attempt to reflect upon the Atonement, to study it, to embrace it, to express appreciation for it, however small or feeble it may be, will kindle the fires of faith and work its miracle towards a more Christlike life.”

I loved this quote and the acknowledgement of our “small and feeble” efforts still being acceptable to our Savior. None of us are perfect nor can we spend all of our time focusing on understanding the doctrine of the Atonement. I know our Heavenly Father knows exactly that and understands our shortcomings. I know that He still provides us with greater faith, more hope and increased love when we put forth effort to understand the sacrifice of His beloved son. I know that it's by little actions we can draw closer to our Savior! Poco a poco :)

I love all of you so much! Thanks for reading along another week and constantly showering me with support and love. I miss you all and you all are in my prayers!

Sending love from chilly Seattle!!

Bye-bye comps
