Spring in Seattle
Hey everyone!
I hope everyone had a solid week wherever you are. I was almost living a dream this week with 5 straight days of sunny weather. The flowers are blooming here in Seattle and I'm so grateful that spring is finally here.
It was a good week. We stayed so busy and started the transfer off super strong. My new companions are both awesome and we've had a lot of fun together. The baby of the trio, Hermana Humpreys, is from Southern California and is a paramedic. She's a few years older than me, so eager to learn, and such a hard worker. Hermana Merrill is from Utah (shocker right??) and is such a solid missionary. She's an awesome example to me and we are always laughing about something.
This week was full of lots of little tender mercies. We worked very hard with finding the past few days and tried different approaches than past missionaries had done. We were able to meet lots of new people and teach some amazing lessons. It's always so cool to see how prepared people can be when you first meet them. Almost every single new person we had a lesson with this week has met missionaries before in their home countries and have read the Book of Mormon. I saw the excitement in their eyes when we taught them the familiar principles of the gospel they had heard years before. It was great.
I don't have too much more to say about this week other than doing lots of finding out in the sunshine, teaching really Spirit led lessons, and attending lots of meetings to start off the transfer...no complaints. The Dumas Bay branch already feels like another home to me and I'm loving my time here!
I was reading some old emails from my dad this past week that are full of his inspirational quotes and came across one of my favorites again. President Henry B. Eyring said,
"If you are on the right path, it will always be uphill."
I feel like I can relate to this so much as it has felt like my entire mission has been an uphill climb but in good ways. I've learned to push myself to be better instead of settling for being comfortable. I know that when challenges come our way our Heavenly Father will always be there to support us but we'll always be expected to make the uphill climb ourselves first. So if any of you are facing some trials right now, keep trusting in Him and He'll keep leading you on that hard but correct path :)
Love you guys lots!! I'm grateful for all the prayers and support I receive from you. Have an amazing week.
Sending love from Seattle!!
Difícil es bueno.
