English Class Miracle

Federal Way Zone

Hiiiii everyone!! I hope all is well. It was another super solid week here in Federal Way. We're busy and happy! Another transfer is about to come to an end and it completely flew by!

There were so many crazy things that happened this week! Our friend Marino is preparing to be baptized next Saturday and he is doing awesome. He told us that he's basically been following the Word of Wisdom his whole life… he is SO prepared. He's an English class miracle! We had a weird experience on Tuesday with a referral that ended up leading us to a halfway house in north Tacoma! Let's just say if I thought Federal Way was a little sketchy, Tacoma definitely wins haha! We grabbed our pepper spray and Books of Mormon and ended up meeting Ezequiel! He's had a rough past but is so kind and has even watched the Restoration movie while in prison…. What are the odds?! Haha we aren't sure what will come from it but every soul deserves to learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We had a zone goal this week of as many testifying contacts as possible in our finding efforts. We bore our testimonies to anyone and everyone we talked to and called. It got frustrating at times when others tried to shut down some of the conversations but looking back at the week it was such a unique and valuable learning experience. I feel like my own testimony of the simple and basic principles of the gospel have grown as I've borne testimony of them more frequently. Definitely a tender mercy of the week and of missionary work!

For a quick spiritual thought I wanted to share a favorite quote that I read this week while studying the talks from the priesthood session. This quote comes from the talk, "This Is Our Time" by Elder Nielsen.

"Our Heavenly Father wants us to love ourselves—not to become prideful or self-centered, but to see ourselves as He sees us: we are His cherished children. When this truth sinks deep into our hearts, our love for God grows. When we view ourselves with sincere respect, our hearts are open to treat others that way too. The more we recognize our divine worth, the better we understand this divine truth: that God has sent us right here, right now, at this momentous time in history, so that we can do the greatest possible good with the talents and gifts we have. This is our time!"

Something that this talk touched on and that my dad has reminded me of several times, is that loving yourself is an equally important commandment. Loving ourselves helps us understand our divine potential and realize our individual importance. Giving yourself an extra bit of love will help in small and big things. I invite you guys to love yourself a little bit more this week and to remind yourselves of our role as His cherished children :)

Another birthday shoutout to my bro Scott!!! It's his 22nd birthday today. I couldn't have asked for a better older brother. Scott is kind, hilarious, loving and my ultimate adventure buddy!! I am always having fun with Scott and he has always been teaching me the importance of the gospel. I definitely lucked out. Sending you a birthday hug from WA bro!!! Love you.

You guys are the greatest! I hope you have another fantastic week. I appreciate you all so much and include you in my prayers. Thanks for reading along ;) LES AMO!

Sending love from sunny Seattle!!
