Rollercoaster Ride
Hola hola hola! It's been a crazy 2 weeks for me here in the field but we've seen some really good things happen!! Mission life is a rollercoaster sometimes but we love spring time here in FW!!
We've been busy the last little bit with lots of exchanges and lots of work in our own area. We have two people with dates for baptism which is super exciting!! Our friends Bolivia and Kelin. They're both younger girls (yes finally GIRLS) that are about our same age and are awesome. Kelin is from Honduras and is a super sharp entrepreneur. She's the sweetest human. Like I've mentioned before, Bolivia is the cousin of our recent convert Rafael and is a young mom from Mexico. They easily have been our miracle this past transfer. They still have been struggling coming to church which is always really frustrating but we're learning to trust in God's timing instead of our own! Continue to keep them in your prayers if you can :)
Last week we had the amazing opportunity to be taught by an apostle! We had a devotional over zoom (boo) with our mission and the Washington Tacoma mission to hear from Elder Quentin L. Cook! It was so great. He gave us lots of advice for missionary work and ended with a powerful testimony of the Savior that I will never forget. He gave us an apostolic blessing that we will come to realize how our service as missionaries right now is not just blessing us as individuals but our families right now and the future families we will have. Definitely a mission highlight! I'm grateful to be doing the Lord's work.
For a spiritual thought I wanted to share a quote from a book I have been reading recently. The book quotes Orson F. Whitney:
"No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude and humility. All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of God… and it is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire and which will make us more like our Father and Mother in heaven."
I know everything we go through is to make us more like our Heavenly parents!! I'm grateful for this eternal perspective as we all face different paths and challenges here in mortality.
Love you all tons!! I'm so grateful for all the prayers and support. You guys are the best.
Sending love from sunny Seattle!!
Difícil es bueno.
