Things are HOT!
Hey hey hey! It's been a really solid past 2 weeks here in Federal Way. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer time whether you're at home or in the mission field!
It's been HOT here the last few days! Heat like this is unheard of in the pacific northwest and we've been getting up to 110 this past weekend. The humidity doesn't help at all and we just drip sweat all day long hoping someone wants to let us in :) For some reason, AC isn't a thing in most houses and apartments here but luckily it should die down this coming week so that's a blessing.
We've been doing tons and tons of finding lately. Ismael is still progressing well but sadly we've had a few of our solid friends drop off the face of the planet lately. We're starting from scratch with some new people and we really have seen some awesome miracles being led to certain individuals. We've been making it a goal to not pass by any hispanic without attempting to contact them and we have some great new potentials. We've really been praying to find a family that is ready for the gospel and thankfully Heavenly Father has put us in the right place at the right time to find several recently! The finding grind is always a rollercoaster, especially in crazy heat, but I know the Lord loves effort :)
A funny/cute story happened while we were out finding a few days ago. We were in an apartment complex and approached a young mom with her little kids while they were out on their porch. The little 4 year old girl, Mari, came up to us immediately and asked us our names. I squatted down to start talking to her and we introduced ourselves as Hermana Christensen and Hermana Merrill. She looked at us kinda puzzled so we asked her what her name was. She then said she was "Hermana Mari" and put her hand on her chest right where her tag would be! It was the cutest thing ever. After we talked to her mom, she proceeded to try and follow us down the street talking to more people. She was so adorable. We gave her a book of mormon to bring back to her mom so let's hope her excitement for missionary work will help us during our return appointment haha!!
During a member visit on Sunday I had a younger boy tell me that my english is getting worse hahaha so that was awesome. Hopefully that means my Spanish is improving but who knows… just embracing the mission brain :,)
I read a verse in D&C 30 the other day that really stuck out to me! Verse 11 says,
"And your whole labor shall be in Zion, with all your soul, from henceforth; yea, you shall ever open your mouth in my cause, not fearing what man can do, for I am with you. Amen."
That was another testimony builder for me that when I open my mouth to testify of this gospel, I don't need to be scared of anything. Heavenly Father is right there with me. I know that's true for all of us, whether we are wearing tags or not, that when we open our mouths or choose to stand out and be disciples of Christ, there is no need to fear. He is with us.
I love you guys lots!!! I miss you all and time is going by too fast out here. Have an amazing week!
Sending love from sunny Seattle!!
DifĂcil es bueno.
Xoxoxoxo Hermana Christensen
