Back to School
Back to school shopping with the Salvation Army |
Hey everyone!! I hope you all had an awesome first few weeks of school!! It was a crazy busy week for me here in the mission but I wouldn't have it any other way!
We did so much this week!! The first week of the transfer is always really wack and this one didn't disappoint. We didn't have one day this week where we had an hour to study haha! Some of the highlights included lots of lessons, lots of friends at church, meeting a lot of new missionaries coming into our zone and doing some awesome service projects.
On Wednesday we had the chance to work with the Salvation Army and help some underprivileged children go back to school shopping. It was a blast! My companion and I were plenty busy helping all these cute hispanic families shop at Old Navy and translating for the parents. It was such a happy morning. We had lots of great meetings to start off the transfer as well and spent a lot of time hearing from our Stake and Mission leadership!! No complaints there! Earlier in the week we helped a new set of sisters move into the zone right into an old Elder's apartment. Cleaning that place was easily the grossest thing I've done in a while. Who knew Elders lived like pigs?? Haha just kidding, I doubt they all do but wow that was quite a morning.
Overall the month of August has been full of so many miracles and has been amazing for our mission. We are about to shatter our previous baptism record in the Washington Seattle mission and have a ton of momentum heading into the fall. This excitement continued as we had President and Sister Kearon here in person this past weekend. It was amazing. We had a blast being with them and I learned so much!! I feel so blessed to have met some amazing leaders on my mission and will never forget their visits.
There were so many things taught at our mission tour but I would like to share a quote from Sister Kearon that she adapted from President Kimball.
"When Christ lays His hands on something… it lives."
That's such a simple but powerful statement! When we allow Christ and His atoning power to prevail in any aspect of our lives, it lives. Our testimonies, families and attitudes can all be changed when He lays His hands on it. All we have to do is let Him!
I love you guys! Hope you have an awesome week. Life is good up here in Federal Way.
Sending love from sunny Seattle!!
DifĂcil es bueno.
