Tony Finau and Faith
Golf P-Day with Coach Kate |
Hello hello to everyone I love!! I hope you all are doing well!! I know I say this every time but wow time is going by so fast! Everything seems to be going by at warps speed. There is no place I would rather be… especially with Utah football's losing streak right now haha!
The rain is beginning again up here in WA but we're still getting lots of good things done! We definitely have faced lots of opposition with helping our friends progress further along and getting them to church. I'm developing lots of patience and just exercising greater faith in the Savior’s power to help others! Even though some of our friends might be struggling, there are still plenty of positives I've seen the last little bit. A few days ago we were in a Plan of Salvation lesson with the group of our recent converts. They're all at different levels and have different testimonies right now but it was amazing to sit back and watch them teach us this time. They walked us through the entire thing. It was a special experience to see them share their knowledge and what they know to be true after only a few months of being members. This truly is a gospel of change!
Another cool experience happened in our group English class a few weeks ago. We had quite a few new people show up to this class. As we finished teaching and began our spiritual thought, I realized I had forgotten extra copies of the Book of Mormon in the car and that we wouldn't have enough to pass out. I scrambled for a few seconds thinking about what to do but before I could say anything, I watched this big group of nonmembers move around to all share their Books of Mormon. They all leaned over and sat closer to one another so every new member of the class could read the verse we chose that day. As I sat there and watched this all unfold I couldn't help but feel an immense sense of gratitude for the light of Christ found in all of those people! It reminded me that no matter if these people come to church or have a desire to be baptized later on, the Book of Mormon is something special to them that they want to share with others. It's always the small and simple things we see in missionary work that make my day!
I read the transcript of an LDS Living podcast this past week when they interviewed Tony Finau! He's a professional golfer on the PGA tour, a member of the Church and grew up close by in Rosepark (basically one of my idols). I had the privilege of meeting him a few years ago at an Allstate banquet and loved what he had to say in this recent podcast about being "all in" on the gospel of Jesus Christ.
"I think being all in on the gospel of Jesus Christ is taking it one step at a time, putting one foot in front of the other, choosing faith every single day, faith in our Savior, faith that things will be better, faith and hope that things will get better."
Choosing faith is an everyday decision and how we truly endure to the end. As we try our best to strengthen our testimonies little by little, our faith and hope in the future will grow and we will become stronger disciples of our Savior Jesus Christ!
I love you guys! Have an awesome week.
Sending love from chilly Seattle!
Difícil es bueno.
